Eleanor (referring to a vase of fresh flowers)

We need to move these flowers so Sylvia doesn't get them and ruin them. 

Me:

We can put them up here.  But they're going to die anyway. 

Elevator (very concerned):

Why?

Me: 

Because when you take them out of the ground they die.

Eleanor:

Then why did you take them?
